I've got to the penultimate stage of removing the physical dial plate, but I must remove the centre spigot bit with the pointer first to slide the new ones on. Thought they might just pull off, but noo. Thought the red indicator needles might pull out and then the round bit might pull off, but that didn't work either???

They need cutting off. Removing the fingers will cause you problems, how do you know you put them on correctly? You can't.

Or fit the new dials over the old.

Only way.

got as far as removing the black plastic cover for the red pointer.

Really!? So the pointers stay on, and the new ones are meant to just fit over the top after you've knifed the old ones (suppose if you had all the pointers facing the same direction, the new plate would slide over) except my holes arn't quite big enough to fit over red circular poiter bit, so bit more customisation required then...

Lockwood ones too, don't require removal of pointers at all either, holes are just cut bigger!?

That can't be right, cos all the plate assembly from behind is only held on to the fascia by those plastic needles!? (once you've cracked the casing open)

ie. the red bits had to of been put on from the front in the first place. They really don't want to come off though. And, yer, I'd considered finite difference it could make it the needles are replaced incorrectly.

OOOOOOOOOOPS!!!!

Now why couldn't I have practiced this on my brothers one first!!

Bloody typical (I've gotta laugh :) )

20 minute job's just turned into a two hour job and I aint even got em in yet (would help if I didn't keep comin on ere and entertaining you lot with my bungling exploits!)
