What do people think of the TOMTOM GO Sat Nav, i think its pricey at around £380 (Cheapest so far) but my girlfriends dad has one and it works a treat. It has a suction pad that sticks to the window and a arm that holds it, the rest plugs into the cig lighter.

I own a Nokia 6600 and you can buy the TOMTOM GO software (UK Maps) for it for £150 and it comes with the GPS Bluetooth Mouse.

Anyone tried the Nokia version one.

Because the TOMTOM GO itself has a touch screen, where as the Nokia one don't. Another thing i'm worried about is the screen turning off.

Any views?

No experience myself of TomTom GO but, I've got TomTom on PDA. The software is excellent specially when tied into a speed camera database you can download.

I managed to download the TomTom via various means and the girlfriend bought me the GPS and PDA holder for Xmas.

I've only ever heard good things about TOM TOM and the bonus is that if you change the car, you take the Sat Nav with you :)

I hadn't heard of the mobile version, and seeing as I also own a 6600, I'm pretty stoked :)

does the tom tom go have all the maps loaded on or do you have to load the towns from a pc before each journey, that's what's put me off pda gps so far. I tried a gps mouse with a laptop but not suitable, whenever you stop somewhere you have to pack the laptop up and put it in the boot, plus you need to see the screen, not too bad if you have it on the seat next to you but if you have a passenger then it just becomes a pain.

the gps mouse worked quite well when in a good place for reception, only problem i had was occasionally it would be a bit behind you, for example you would get the "a roundabout in 200 meters" when you were actually going round it.

my brother in law has the mobile version, and it is good, but it aint fantastic, for the price it will get you there, it kills your battery if you do not have it plugged in and he has found that when he gets a call it wipes out the settings and route.

Well TomTom have stated in there website, that you can recieve a call during the use of the TomTom software and it will still carry on talking to you when to turn, and will return to normal after the call has ended.

Re: tomtom mobile

I will probably get one when the price comes down. I get lost all the time.

The bonus with the tom tom go is you can use it out of your car. Say your in London and want to find somewhere it will tell you where to go.

Re: tomtom mobile

I dunno what to do buy the TomTom Go Sat Nav for £410 or buy the TomTom Mobile for my Nokia for £160???

With TomTom Mobile the GPS reciever is seperate so if you wanted to use it when walking around you'd need take the reciever aswell.

TomTom Go is a complete sat nav kit, comes with screen and everything is built into. But its £250 more than the mobile one.

What to get? I may not even bother putting a PC in my car if i get one of these.

Re: tomtom mobile

ive ordered two for work a few days ago, when they arrive, ill let you know how they work if you havent already decided.

Re: tomtom mobile

I know how they work especially the main TomTom Go one, its the mobile variant i'm not too sure. Pity i dont have someone to buy it for me who can buy it for the company so i dont have to pay the VAT, hint hint.
