What can I do or buy for my bravo 1.4 to get better mpg, is there anything I can clean etc. or replace to get better mpg?

I've tried driving carefully but the mpg is still awful.

On a 1.4 not really. i think its because of the Bosch injectors.

Swap it for a newer 1.2, or something bigger. EVERY bravo, except the HGT, gets better mpg than the 1.4 i'm afraid. On paper the 1.8 doesn't, but having both, i can tell you it does. even though its much bigger, more power etc you can expect at least an extra 30miles per tank with a 1.8!

sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I'm sure its a lovely car, its just a shame about the mpg.

i have 1.4 and theres pretty much nothing you can do,even having car running perfect etc its still gunna be really slow and use lots of petrol,im getting new car soon,april time,love my bravo but the engine is too slow and uses too much petrol,thats my only reason for wanting new car
that and my girlfriend making me buy a new house,maybe getting 1.2 bravo or new shape punto

get a JTD punto and then have Nige remap it

Of course you get more mileage out of the 1.8, it's got a bigger tank.

I agree also, persevered with my 1.4 for four years, had enough and getting a JTD instead, the money i'll save on petrol will probably cover the installment!

i used to have old shape punto,1.1,that thing would run spit
i remember i used to put 5 quiq in petrol and it would run me all over for days,it was a big shock when i got bravo 1.4,i should have looked into it before buying it,would have got 1.2 if i had known
hoping to get maybe 1200-1500 for my bravo 1.4 r reg,54000 on clock,great car but uses too much fuel
may look into the jtd punto,but even the 1.2 will give great mpg

Yeh I've been looking into selling my 1.4 1998 S Reg 46k on the clock, and getting a 1.2, but I can't seem to find any for sale locally, so I'll just keep looking. I also want the 1.2 so I can have it remapped.

If the reason is that your not sure about if it is actually remapped, you can always speak to Nige. Just a thought.

I did believe you, it was just the fact that half the enjoyment of having a modded car, is that you worked hard doing it all yourself.
