1.4sx bravo 98 76K tried changing out the front strut, the nuts would come off but the bold wont come out, won't go around either, these aren't treaded are they. I presume a pot hole did the damage and the only way out is to grind them off

Which bolt? Change both front shocks at the same time.

The 2 bolts just above the hub holding the strut in place

They are not threaded, just tight...

I found it easier to put the car on axle stands, then stick the jack under the hub to take the weight.

Then used an old drill and a hammer to knock them out.

tried something pretty similar but they wouldn't move, have hit a few pot holes at speed lately but no tyre damage, didn't think they would be that weak to bend

I doubt if they would have bent as they are supported pretty well.

Big hammer, they are usually rusted in. Get some new bolts, they are only a couple of £ from Fiat.

I got a new nut & bolt, but i had to get the one i knackered back in as i didn't fancy driving my car with just one...
