I'm getting the brake fluid warning light flashing on when I pull away from a standing start and then goes off once the car "levels out". This is coupled with what I assume is a small amount of brake fluid under the middle of the sump guard - however, I cannot find any leak from the reservoir or hoses. Any suggestions?

Much appreciated.

Might be the clutch cylinder which is located on top of the gearbox. It uses the same reseviour (whatever!) What model is it?

I have a JTD and have the very same symptoms, not found any leaks yet

It doesn't have to be a leek, when the brake pads are used their thickness is reducing, and the brake system needs more brake fluid to compensate the loss in thickness of the pads. It drains the fluid cup in to the hoses and that can result in virtual fluid lost. When you change your brake pads you must press in the brake cylinders and that is the way the fluid gets back to the cup.
To cut it short-check your pads, that is the only thing I can think off.

thanks, but the light comes on when pulling off, not when the pads are applied, Tom mentioned checking levels etc.. possible slave clutch cyl

There are 2 lights, one indicates the handbrake is on AND indicates the fluid level is low, the other indicates worn pads ONLY.

Could be wrong but doesnt it slosh about when you pull off making it dip below the indicator?

Mine did this turned out the wear indicator wires were shorting due to a bare wire replaced wire and pads and hey presto dash board clear of warning lights.
