wot brand tyres do people use/wot have people found be good all round tyres?

just curious as I am due to replace two on my Brava 1.9TD and wanted some thoughts on the different brands out there....

also I have noticed that my car has 185/60R14 tyres which the guide on here says it should have on but the manufacturers standard on mine was 175/65R14, does thi s make a major difference to it?

thoughts and opinions please

What sort of budget have you got?At the moment im on budget tyres (hankook) because they came as part of an alloy wheel package and they do the job in the dry but **** in the wet!

When they are worn i think ill go for, Pirelli because i can get them cheap and are fantastic in the wet!

A lot of the guys have Toyos. Tom will tell you about those if you ask nicely!

I've not tried toyo's,

but thwe last 4 sets of tyres i've had were all goodyear eagle f1's as i think they perform realy well in the dry, and dont lose much in the wet either!

especially they are really good in wet braking,

Re: re

I find the Goodyear GS D3's to be a pretty good allrounder, a bit pricey though...

try bridgestone potenza RE720 from WWW.mytyres.net. I have run them the last two changes and they are very grippy.Or try any other premium brand from this store as at the price they sell them at it's not worth buying cheap. Your local tyre fitter will mount them for about 20 quid.

Re: tyres

Try Nokian NRV. Fantastic tyres, great in the wet and dry. Just remember that you can't swap them about!

Re: tyres

Over the years, I have had Fulda Extremo and Continental SportContact...

Fulda were expensive but were extremely good in the dry. In the wet they were very good but you get no indication that you are approaching their limit in the wet...they snap off suddenly. This could be very possible due to the 45mm drop in ride height and hard ride of the car.

The Continentals have proved to be very good value for money as they are well priced and give very good grip in both weathers. The latter are abit uncomfortable on potholes and I have a suspicion that they wear abit quicker than usual.

Steer away from Dunlop. Cheap and crap.

Watch out for Yokohama, they have earned alot of praise but never tried them personally.

i had yokohamas on my old xr3i, wet or dry, it held the road like a fat guy hold on to his last pie!!! they were 195/50/15, and i was paying about £50 a piece.well worth it in my experience. "you get what you pay for!!"

if you are on a tighter budget, i last used firestone f590's and for £40 each they were pretty good, even in the wet.

Toyos are ok when new in the dry. Crap in the wet and wear VERY quickly.
I have goodyear hydragrips on the front, alot better than the toyos but more expensive. Tbh wouldn't skimp on tyres its the only thing between you and the road.
