the fuse that controls the rear driverside light cluster, rear passengerside licenceplate light and also the heater control lights keeps blowing

i had my neon's installed yesterday and not is has blown 3 fuses in a row.

i have disconected the neon's and it still does it !

so i am now worried about the drilling i have done under the car.......anyone know where the wires go that would affect this particular fuse ?

or anyone know a trial/error way of solveing it ?

goddam fiat electrics !!!!

any help much apriciated

ps. no comments about chav neons and i deserve it for being a chav etc etc

do you have a test meter?
if so, set it to check continuity, connect the black negative of it to a good earth and the positive to the positvive feed you made for the neons, if the short still exists, the test meter will pick it up.
it doesnt matter if the fuse is dead or not for this test, but leave your lights off.

and then start taking your car to pieces :(

How did you disconnect the neons?

You know this is the Fiat god making you pay for chavving up your car ;)

i disconected them by takeing the positive off the battery,

do they run down the passengerside sill ?

the multimeter idea sounds like a good one ! i will try that tomorow in the light

this is the exact process

the side tubes i could screw in but the front/rear i couldent so i cable tied them on

the tubes themselves all had a wire that plugs in to a small box which i screwed near the passengerside footwell.

there was then a wire that went from this small box into the control box which sits nicley in my glovebox (too many boxes lol)

now at the back of the control box there are 2 wires the one that goes to the battery and one that goes to an earth, and thats it so i put the power one through the passengerside footwell and to the battery and then the ground i ran up my passengerside sil to the earthing point at the rear (same earthing point as my ice)

and thats it, it was dead easy to do but just time consumeing to tidy all the wires under the car proporly

I can bet you that the power cable leading to the battery is pinched and touching the chassis somewhere along the footwell.

either that or you have inserted the wrong amp fuse in the fusebox.

through the passengerside footwell grommit to get them into the car

So the wire goes from the tubes, through that gromet to the footwell and then back into the engine bay again?

there is like a controler box, where i can select what colour i want and if i want them to flash etc, all the tubes go through the footwell gromit into that controler box then there are 2 other wires that come out of that box one goes to the battery which also passes through the grommit and the other to the earthing point which is under my rear seats

i have the day off work tomorow so an ideal time to have a tinker see if i can find the culprit so any more suggestions would be much apriciated, the power cable pinching sounds like a possibility schui i will check that ty

after 2hours 3 bleeding knuckles and a lot of language which certanly wont be repeated before the watershed i have sorted it :)

it was 2 things schui was right the power cable was trapped so i freed that up and it was still blowing so i had to lift the carpet and take a good luck turns out i couldent have drilled it through better ! lol

perfectly inline with all the wires :( it hadent cut any wires or damaged any but 2 or 3 screws were touching wires, i have moved them all and hey presto jobs a good un :)

only took 8 fuses :p
