I have just bought a 2001 brave (1.2 formula). It's my first big spend on a car. Generally I'm very pleased but I find the ride very hard. You can feel every single bump and dent in the road. Is this normal with these cars? Is it the sort of tyres on the alloy wheels?

Well i have just changed my wheels from 205/40/17 to 185/55/14 and the ride is far smoother on the smaller wheels and tyres.

yes it is normal - it is quite a harsh ride but the thinner the tyres the worse it gets!

the rides worse on thicker tyres!

55's would give you a softer ride then 40's...

Oh dear so many different ideas. How do i know what size the tyres/wheels are? They look thin to me, much thinner than my unreliable, but smooth riding VW Jettas. Seems that Bravas are just bumpy!

look on the side of the tire.
there will be a series of numbers like on mine:

185/55/R14

185 bit is the width of the tread part of the tire

55 bit is the sidewall height
