when i pull away quickly the hand brake light comes on. Is this just where it's bouncing about or is it some kind of electrical fault?? It does not happen when pulling away slowly and it only flashes for a split second.

also my rear wiper does not go back to the start position. when i turn it on it starts and when i turn it off it stops(where it is at that time).

are these common faults? How do I fix em?

The handbrake light is coming on to indicate low brake fluid level, either you have a leak (unlikely) or your front pads are worn hence more fluid is needed in the system as the pads are alot thinner. Not a fault :)

As for the rear wiper, check the contacts along the bottom of the boot opening (4 of them) and make sure they are clean.

I had my pads changed about 8months ago, when they were worn a different light came on, it was a cirle in brackets. I'm guessing your right Tom(cos you're always right) but could it be a combination of both factors, maybe the pads are worn(not enough for the other light to come on) and the fluid is a little bit low. But I dont know, can brake fluid evaporate or run low without having a leak?

Also the light does not come on when braking only when accelerating in first gear.

Either way I think like most drivers of my age, my brakes have been abused. Discs have been warped for quite a while. Can you reccommend a new setup for slowing me down thats not gonna break the bank?

I should take my dad's advise and brake as little as possible cos it's a complete waste of energy.

Same prob with my wiper too :)

I'm not too fussed as the wiper works - its just I have to time when to reset the switch :)

Could be they didn't top it up fully or Like Al's car one of the connections is loose.

Either way have a looksee, top it up if need be and check the level again in a month. usually if there is a leak it goes VERY quickly.

If your electric contacts are clean and good, then it could well be the switch inside the wiper motor thats faulty.

you can test the switch with a multimeter on the boot hatch contacts.
