Had my 1.8HLX serviced yesterday.

To cut costs yesterday the following tasks have yet to be done:

1> Rear brake shoes worn out
2> OSR wheel cylinder needs replacing
3> Rear brake drums ridged - need grinding down
4> OSF + NSF lower swivel joint need replacing
5> OSF shock leaking

What I'm kinda thinking is if I was able to get some part cheap from somewhere I might help cut my bill down!

Brake shoes 39.20 to 18.69 / Wheel cylinder - 17.50 / 2x suspension arms (for swivel joint replacement) 65.00 / Front shock 77.33

All prices exclude VAT - this is thru my mobile mechanic.

Anyone reckon I can get this cheaper?

Labour charges to do the all the above is 140.00. Can't escape that, but if I can source parts cheaper I could save some pennies for replacing my now (as of today) cracked windscreen!

Tis crazy! Money money money on this car!

Any advice and help appreciated.

Cheers,
Ins.

PS. Apart from the above joyful list, my mechanic said the car drives nicely and is actually rather 'sound'. A silver lining to the cloud I guess!!! :)

All i could say is that seems like quite a lot for the shock absorber - but just to tarnish your silver lining, you REALLY should replace two on the same axle - otherwise you'll be in danger of going round in circles replacing worn parts on one side of the car then the other.

Are you a modder?

Thats about right for a shock but you must do both front ones at the same time. The handling will be very bad if you just do one AND if one is leaking the other is not far behind.

Cheers guys.

I am not a modder no. Standard all the way - it's how Fiat designed it.
