The remote locking key fob battery on my 1.6 T reg HLX has gone. Can I get one of these at Halfords or will I have to go to fiat and how much will it cost ?

Re: Untitled

If its the same as my 1.8 HLX, there's two batteries in it. You can get them from Halfords think they were about £3 each... If you take the fob apart it should say on them what they are....

Re: Untitled

2? I've only got 1 in mine. (Car is a 1997 1.8HLX)

RCL not working tho - keyfob just flashes red.

I've had a look but cant see how you get 2x 2032 style batteries in it.

Re: Untitled

See, you've got me wondering what batteries should be in my key fob.

What I have is this:

What was in it when I got the car was a CR2032 but the RCL doesn't work (although key lights up). I've noticed the CR2016 battery is considerably thinner so perhaps wrong battery is in the keyfob mebbe.

Thoughts most welcome :)

Re: Untitled

it needs 3 volts to operate, so you need to go for the slimmer CR2016.
Places like Maplin, dixons (thieving bstrds) and just about any high street photo place will sell them.

Re: Untitled

Ta, thought it was the case.

I work for Homebase (cough*crap place*cough) and the 2016's are £1.99 each. Even with 20% discount I'm not bothering. Getting a 5 pack from ebay for £3.49 :) Much better!

Be interesting to see if the alarm starts working when I slap 2x batts in :)
