As I've had a few problems with the engine in my '96 1.8 HLX, I decided to get the engine replaced!
I sourced an enigne from a '98 R with 48,000 miles on it but apparently when it got to the garage it was incompatible and was taken away!
The company that sourced the engine, said they have looked into it and there are supposed to be two different types of engine where the injection system is the main difference. Is this difference because of the change over between the 113 HLX and the 115 HLX!?!
The reason I'm so curious is that they have contacted me and told me that they have sourced the correct engine that would be compatible with my car. But this one is from a '98 S with 44,000 miles on it, so could this be a 'late registered' car where Fiat would have still been fitting the 113 engines!?!
The engine supplier is now very certain that having looked into it, this engine will be the right one for my car!
