My car is still under Fiat 3rd year warranty, (6 days left)
The clutch is uncomfortably heavy, a real leg ache in traffic. I have had 3 mareas and a bravo and none have been like this.
it also Judders sometimes when moving off cold.

the dealer thinks its just wear and not a warranty job.

2001 marea JTD110 ELX 41,000 miles.

Any help apreciated.

thanks
Andy

Heavy Clutch

I know what you're going through mate.

Had my 1.8HLX Bravo for about 6 months now and the clutch is unbeleivably heavy. Like you said, a real leg killer in traffic.

heavy clutch

been told that this is a common problem and there was a recall or modification to the pressure plates.
anyone know?

heavy clutch

Im not totally familiar with the workings of the clutch, but from what i understand it is the fingers on the pressure plate that wears out prematurely.

shall i insist that the dealer fixes it under warranty?

ps i have driven two may mates cars today. 1 bravo and 1 brava and both cluttches are considerably lighter. 1 mate drove mine and said it feels like somethings gonna snap when u press the pedal.

;-(

Re: heavy clutch

Its not that they wear prematurely, they just wear. A clutch is a wear item.

If the previous owner used to leave their foot on the clutch pedal then its life will be grossly shortened.

Re: Re: heavy clutch

If it is a worn release bearing, Is it possible to change the release bearing???? or does a new clutch have to be fitted??

Thanx!

Re: Re: Re: heavy clutch

No point at all just doing the bearing as its only 5 mins more work to do the whole lot. I'm not sure if you can even get the bearing seperately.

Cheers!!

So is it expensive to get a clutch and get it fitted on a 155 20v Marea??
