Rear tailgate smoothing

How much should I expect to pay to have the rear tailgate smoothed and sprayed?

most places will charge around £250, i just got mine done from a local bodyshop for £100 though which is a bargain

gettin mine done at local body shop for 120! well chuft, but am getin alot done so that is why it is cheaper!

Dont pay anyone to do it apart from paint it.

Ive done 4, its soo easy and takes 4hrs tops.

First remove the gay handle.

Get some small bodywork patching mesh and aproxy it to cover the holes. Mix up a tin of filler and paste it in till your arm drops off.

Next sand down, fill, sand, fill again. Then a bit of spray primer and ready for painting.

my mate works in a bodyshop and he says that if u just fill it with filler it will crack due to the expantion and reduction of the filer and the vibrations

if jamesp has done 4 of them like that then i reckon that's a sweet way to do it - you've got nothing to lose either if you were going to get it done at a bodyshop anyway!

I work at a vodyshop and i will never ever suggest using purly filler!

If you want it done then get a plate welded in!

No affence intended james but filler wont work!My be if you have a standard sound system and you dont slam the boot EVER! but if you put a sub in the boot the pressure caused by the sub will crack the filler, and if you slam the boot the filler will probably crack!

Agreed dan, you have nothing to lose but the chances are you will need it redoing so why bother!!

thats what i have been told aswell mate, im looking to get mine done soon what type of prices would be good for having the plate welded in aswell cheers Danny
