is it possible to stick a 2ltr coupe lump into my bravo 1.4, and how much will it cost?

would it be worth it? because personally i love my 1.4 shell and interior!

Re: Re: engine conversion

no it's not possible to do an engine conversion to such standards.

Maybe an engine transplant though ???

You need to change:
engine
gearbox
driveshafts
front brakes (200BHP on 1.4 brakes would be lethal)
front suspension (engine is heavier)
ECU
wiring loom
exhaust
induction system

and if its the turbo lump:
custom intercooler
custom exhaust manifold
lots of custom pipework

A much better starting point would be a 1.8. Its just not worth it on the 1.4.

.

Just curious as to why you need to get a custom intercooler and exhaust manifold, when both can be fitted as standard to the car?

Re: .

As far as I know the standard turbo manifold sticks out too far to fit in the bravo engine bay and obviously the bravo was never designed to take an intercooler.

.

Neither was my tipo but managed to get to fit.

The standard I/C mounts on the nearside bearbox mount so should fit fine.

Re: .

Have to ask AllanW but things still dont fit in the same place as on a coupe.

re

the intercooler and oilcooler and manifold are all good, they fit quite nicely on mounts in around engine etc. the pipe work is a bit custom, but nothign too special.

it all looks quite simple, just cramped! lol

Re: re

I sit corrected :)

Add to the list a new rad as the 1.4 has a smaller one.

Re: Re: re

your best bet if you are serious is to buy the coupe as a whole car from a scrap yard then swop all the parts you need over. the scrap yard will sell you the car but might have to chop the roof off to make sure you dont try to fix it. try and get a coupe thats very badly damaged cos its a lot cheaper. around where i live near middlesboro you can buy a messed up coupe for about £500 then you need to find someone to swop the parts over. my couson has quoted me around £500 but to most people your looking at around £1000. while you getting the engine in swop the front and rear brakes over as well. heck you might as well swop the front leather seats over then break the rest of the coupe and try and recoup some cash back

Re: Re: Re: re

all the parts will swop over to your car. if you buy the whole coupe you shouldnt need to buy much else

it might be easier to transplant your 1.4 interior into a coupe :)

re

if you can get a 16v turbo coupe for 500 then i'll buy a couple! lol

i cant believe you'd get one for that price with everything in engine you need undamaged and all brakes etc.

Re: Re: engine conversion

Buy the whole coupe then sell the bravo :)

Re: Re: Re: engine conversion

Yup, engine transplants are great, but a coupe is miles better, roll on the day I own one.

How mint does the 20v Turbo sound when its given full Beans :)
