Re: Lock on the Boot is jammed!!! i have tryed to get in with the key but the key wont turn...

yeah i've had this with my 2001 mk2!

Basically, WD40, right into the lock....

Put key in and pull it out about 20 times, just to get a smooth run in (cos this was a problem with mine also)

once you've done this, try push key in and turn, keep doing this, eventually, if its the same problem as mine, you'll be able to open the boot on the second turn, so you put key in turn once nothing, turn again open...

this stayed like this for a while, it now works (almost" first time every time.

i should have taken it back but i use my lever in the car more than the lock.

has the mk1 not got a lever for the boot in the car?

boot

yes the mk1 does have a lever for the boot in the car.
I have the same problem with my mk1.
i'll try the wd40 trick and let you know how it goes.
Cheers.

Re: boot

same problem happened to me last winter - to much dirt on the car (i didn't wash it for like a month) so I couldn't open the boot (even the lever stoped working :S)

So i had to climb over the rear sits, unscrew the plastic cover and open it with my fingers, than reassamble the keylock..cleaned it, put all back together and it was ok.

About 1-2 hours of work.

Re: Re: boot

Yeah, it does have a lever its just that i am taking my handles off and welding over them to make it smooth, so if my battery goes flat the boot will be my only way of unlocking/entiring the car!!!

I will give the WD40 a go, but it is pissing it down with rain at the moment so it will have to wait!!!

Does the boot unlock the other doors aswell?

Thanks

Re: Re: Re: boot

the boot unlocks the boot alone, its not wired into the central locking system

"i am taking my handles off and welding over them to make it smooth, so if my battery goes flat the boot will be my only way of unlocking/entiring the car"

so how are you gonna actually open the door with no door handles? its good enough unlocking them but you still have to open the door.
should have waited for you to do the job before proposing this scenario to you :p

Very funny

i am going to weld over where the handles go and then run a solinoid to the locks on the car, these will open the second lock like a handle would, they will pop the doors open so you can get in...

There will be a button ran to the wing mirrors, the button will be hidden underneith the mirror, like on TVR's, they dont have any handles!!!!

Re: Very funny

I had the same problem with my boot lock, about 15 mins and some WD 40 now works like a dream just fill the lock up with WD and with out forcing the key just keep pulling it in and out when it goes in ok then just start twisting a little at a time, hope you can sort it
