I am going to Buy a 6 channel amp in Feb, Any1 recommend any, it will be running 2 13 or 16cm comps (Front Doors), 2 Coax's (Original rear position), and 2 2 way 6X9's (parcel shelf replacing my old ones)

Hopefully around the £250 mark?

What you all reccomend?

Personally i would ditch the 6x9's and get a 4 channel amp...

agreed - dont bother with 6x9s (if you have a sub then its pointless) and then you could go with a better 4 channeller. better still buy some three way 16cm components for the front and ignore rear speakers altogether, then you can buy a powerful 2 channel amp twith your 250 squid and it should sound rather nice indead. 3 way comps cost more tho.

Very few good 6ch amps at sensible money out there.

If you have the 6x9's you don't need the coaxes, if you have a sub you don't need the 6x9's.

already have 6 X 9's in, unless i buy a new shelf or make on then i'll be left with 2 holes Even if a choose not to have the 6 9's i still want a 6 ch amp then i could add another sub etc at a later date,

my budget is around £250

I have just purchased a 6 ch amp. Its sitting in my bedroom waiting to be fitted tomorrow (weather permitting). Pop down my way if ya wany to come and have a look.

are 6ch amps any good? they never seem to have the same power rating as other amps? or is this just to do with the usual rms etc etc ratings?

Right so i am thinking along 2 way 6 9'rs, comps in front and sub in boot 6 channels needed

Tom was going to run the sub off one my 2 sony amps i have sat here but i am going to sell these soon

Alan, its all down to power supply and heat. If you have 6 channels in 1 box then you have 3 times the heat to get rid of compared to a 2ch amp and 3 times the load on the PSU.

Thats why they have lower power ratings to equiv 2 and 4 ch amps.

Don't fit components in the back, its a waste and ruins the sound stage.

as you don't have a sub keep the 6x9's. bin them the moment you get a sub though

i dont know of many 6 channel amps that cost 250 and sound good at the same time. if you do go with a 4 channel amp try the DLS CA.200 which is modest at 4 x 50Rms but rrp's at 200 and sounds amazing. it just won the total car audio mag award for 2003. what comps are you gettin for the front soundstage?

Comps in the front with 6x9's (cos you already have them), and a Sub will sound good...

Just one question, would it be better to get a mono/2 channel for the sub, and a 4 channel for the comps?...I would have thought you would get better control over the system? (You would have a lot more choice too)

It gives you most flexibility to have seperate amps, its just more wiring, more space, more cost.

I have 2 amps, 1 6ch Denon for my front components and a Genesis for the sub.

yeah daz it will as long as the bass from the 6x9's is filtered out when he has a sub - otherwise speakers sound out of phase - especially when you sat in the drivers or passengers seats.
