Drivers side headlight is cracked and needs replacing soon....what price do I expect to pay? Can I fix it myself if I get a spare from a scrap yard??

Re: Replacing cracked headlight on Brava

The headlamp is easy enough to replace as long as you are careful in disconnecting the cables. Look on the new headlamp for clues as to where the clips fit as some of them have to be done by feel. Undo the clip properly and they just slide off - you don't need to be brutal!

You may need to have the lamp realigned. When I did mine I didn't need it so you could be OK.

Headlamps are about 100 ish from autofactors, may be cheaper from a scrappy but you will be lucky to find one. Someone here on the forum may have one, sep if they have done the Marea conversion. Worth asking.

Yes

Yes. You cannot buy the glass separately and even if you could you wouldn't be able to seal it.

Re: Yes

If it's a stone chip you can normally get away with just putting silicone sealent in the crack. If not then you have to replace whe whole light unit as they are sealed to prevent condensation. I got mine for about 68 ex vat each new from a place in sheffield called autospares, 01142752920. They are easy to replace, although difficult to get at. In the 1.6 if it's the right one there is a hose you have to take off and if it's the left the washer bottle limits your working space. There is a pivot ball joint for the load level where the light unit meets the grill which you have to be careful of but apart from that it's easy!

Re: Re: Yes

Get yourself some repair tape.
I got some a few years ago for my old Teapot 1.4 DGT. Used to come with a roll of clear and a roll of red. Used the clear on a chipped headlight, lasted for 3 years or more.

Mark.
