I recently posted the following :
I got a 1.8 brava, and when its being driven, upon acceleration it sounds kinda throaty (as if it ain't got an air filter), but yet kinda cammy and you can feel the throttle pedal resonnating....but the strange thing is when you dip the clutch and rev it the engine sounds sweet also engine is fine when stationary..feels kinda flat to drive, but will pull 80mph on around 4,000revs...my 1.6 brava seems better on acceleration 80 at 3,000.

Someone has mentioned to me that it could be a stuck cold start valve...where would I find this exactly??
If it goes into fiats whats it gonna cost for a diagnostic...even though no dash lights are on (apart from airbag..different story)bloody car only cost £800 and already I'm fed up with it...

Fed up driving a tank!!! gonna stick to me 1.6 Trofeo for the time being me thinks..

A stuck idle valve would result in your car either not starting when cold or sitting at traffic lights doing 3000RPM.

I do not believe there is anything wrong with your engine. ALL 16 valve engines are peaky like that and as I said before revving with no load is nothing like revving under load.
