A bit of history.., Brava was giving intermittent hot starting trouble. Cold start never a problem. Hot start would have to let it cool for 20 mins then OK.

Whilst driving along car cut out and wouldn't restart.

Fuel cutoff switch OK, Fuel and ignition relays on, No spark, 12V to primary of coil. No swithching of coil primary by ECU.

Changed crankshaft sensor, no change.

No imobiliser light? Curious, not my car so I don't drive it everyday, but thought the key code light came on for a second.

After much pondering called RAC. RAC came out and checked stuff through. He told me it was the coil. Having just checked the coil according to the Haynes manual, I was less than convinced.

So double checked coil according to Haynes and then once again attached an oscilliscpe to the two Primary connections that should be grounded by the ECU to switch the coil...Not a flicker.

1)Before I moan at the RAC, can anyone confirm the method of checking the coil resistances are Haynes correct and RAC wrong?

2) Any other suggestions over and above ECU?

Thinking this may end up being a tad pricy!
