I found some by brembo - but expensive @ £1400 - I was wondering whether ne1 has fitted any - as i dont like my ponsey standard drums and disks on my 1.2. I have been told that bigger brakes would cause lock up - not the case!

If not it will be 2 months untill i get the brembos then!

They will if fitted wrongly.

You really need to change the brake bias if you start messing with disc sizes etc.. otherwise you will get uneven brake distribution and lockup.

If you put dirty great discs on the back but leave the bias set for pissy little drums then when you hit the pedal it will put too much pressure to the back and you will lock up.

Yup

Yup but presssuming there going to cost £1400 i would expect them to be fitted properly - lol. Anyway this i knew + also supposedly the bravos without abs have an asc (Anti Skid Controller)which makes small mistakes in brake bios unnoticable! But i Quote 'Aparently'. Do you know of any kits except the brembo's?

Re: Yup

Only the brembos. There is always the chance for it to be ****ed up though.

The non-abs bravos have an inertial brake bias which changes the rear brake pressure depending on deceleration. This will NOT compensate for having wildly different brakes.

It is set to give a pre-determined brake pressure depending on how hard you are braking to give the correct braking force to the rear wheels. Changing the relation between brake pressure and braking force will mess it up.

Ok smart

Cheers tom my mistake - so how do you change brake bios on the bravo - or would i not want to attempt it - also how would i fit disks on the back? Would i need to buy hgt (or other) rear hubs?

Re: Ok smart

As far as I know you need HGT rear hubs, callipers, handbrake cable plus the usual discs and pads.

As for the bias, you have 2 options:
1) adjustable bias valve (Triton or the such)
2) change the angle of the valve

Now I like adjustables as you can mess with them. There is one on my mini and you can go from locking the rears to having the car stand on its nose with the rears in the air still spinning.

It may be possible to alter the valve characteristics by changing the angle of it (it will think you are braking more/less) but I've never seen one from a bravo.

If you are going to spend £1000 on brakes, £50 for a valve is not much and if gives you something to play with in the cabin. :)

Re: Re: Ok smart

Wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to upgrade the fronts to vented disks and decent pads, coupled with braided hoses.

Not wanting to sound funny or owt, but £1400 on brakes for a 1.2 is a bit of overkill.

Do the calipers, disc etc not fit off of the Coupe? Since that has Brembo calipers as standard, or is this completely wrong?

Re: Re: Wanted - Can i get oversized disks with calipers

do tar-ox do an upgrade kit? (or whatever theyrte called)

and just put a bull dog clip on the brake line, it'll be fine!!!!!
