Re: Re: Re: 16cm front speaker mounts

16cm is 6.5 inch i take it.

Briliiant!

Re: Re: Re: Re: 16cm front speaker mounts

i was thinking of sticking 8" subs in there, need time to build some moulds though !!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 16cm front speaker mounts

8" subs go in, Brendans Team Source Bravo has some in his front doors. Some major metal cutting needed though!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 16cm front speaker mounts

Si,

You got a link or do they have a website at all ?
Do you know what speakers they were, i'm going for some RE 8"

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 16cm front speaker mounts

You need to be very careful what type of speaker you fit to the door if you expect any sort of bass response.

Most car 'subs' (and most are pretty crap really) need a large volume of air behind them to make bass. You fit an average 8" 'sub' in the door and it will roll off well over 100Hz.

Focal and Kicker make special 8" drivers that have been designed for VERY small enclosures and door fittments.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 16cm front speaker mounts

RE also make these type of enclosures as well. I'm waiting for the XXX 8" range as if its anything like the 10" it will kick but its not a boomy sub

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 16cm front speaker mounts

From a sound point of view i always thought it was better to have bass comeing from behind you and have midrange at front or am i being a dumbass ?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 16cm front speaker mounts

You will never get boomy without box volume.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 16cm front speaker mounts

Dave, i think you're correct partly.

If i am right, i think bass is non-directional so as long as your have the mids and tweeters up front, bass in the front won't matter.

Maybe i'm being a dumbass !!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 16cm front speaker mounts

Bass is much less directional than the other parts of the sound, the important thing is that it all gets to your ears at the same time. :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 16cm front speaker mounts

That's cool, thats what my built in time alignment is for :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 16cm front speaker mounts

Paul I'm not entirely sure what hes using in the doors though i've a feeling its phase linear stuff!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 16cm front speaker mounts

The company i just bought the speaker adaptors for is doing a good offer on "sound boards" baisically parcel shelfs with a combination of speakers pre mounted into them. anyone ever used these before ? are they any good ?

i can see the pro's but i can also see the cons, but for someone like me who doesent want to devote his boot to 1 sub box/amp it seems like a good soloution.

here are the three options they do, which one would be best ?

re : bravo sound boards here are the details :

3 types all are interchangeable ( same fittings)should u change car u only need to change the carry board.

attached pic:( not very good )but the brochure is better.

cax-45 3 way / 1 x12 woofer / 2 x 16cm coaxials wired via 3 way crossovers
cax-55 2 way / 2 x 10" woofers / 2 x large tweeters / crossovers
cas-65 3 way / 4 x 8" woofers / 2 x large tweeters / crossovers

tweeters are protected / and crossovers are all pre wired, just connect right and left ch to amp. we can also give you a quick release so you can take it out like a normal shelf.

sounds good to me, obvioustly there are no speaker details but you get to pick your own from a selection. he has sent me a few pics of the shelfs and they look the biz. any help would be muchily apriciated (thanks tom in advance)
