i posted a message on here a while back about an anoying knocking sound coming from the drivers floor underneith the car.

well ive also noticed that in low gears the car sort of shakes and this horrible metal clunking sound comes from underneirth some where...

what can it be, pleeeez

wheel bearings? only a suggestion something you could check out?

i dont think its the bearings, but cheers anyway,

its more of an innermittent knocking sound coming from undernieth the floor, ive just ran out of ideas, its starting to worry me as its getting worse

Does it get worse when turning? If it does and the bearings are sound it could be the driveshaft, gearbox or maybe a ball joint has gone. Either way I'd get it checked sooner rather than later cos if it's a ball joint and you hit a pothole your wheel could come off. (the doom-monger strikes again!)

One of your outer CV joints has died. Get it changed ASAP, they are only £100 + fitting from Fiat.

If it fails totally the possible damage is just too horrible to think about. If the drive shaft drops out of the CV joint it can flail about and rip your suspension to bits and probably take your gearbox inards with it.

Another cheaper possible cause is a worn bush on the anti-roll bar.

Not if it gets worse when turning. That is classic CV joint.

Anti-roll bar bushes knock louder when the weight is taken off them, cos they loosen up! e.g. If you go round a right hand corner, and the right one is worn,it will knock.
