Nice...

I've just come back from hospital having been involved in a head on collision with some pratt who was driving on the wrong side of the road. Result is a totally crushed front end on my Brava and some minor injuries.

The police said the other driver was entirely to blame as he was on the wrong side of the central barrier and there was absolutely nothing I could have done to avoid him.

What made it worse, the other guy had a baby in the back seat (who was ok).

Dunno wtf to do now - got no wheels! Tomorrow will tell I guess!

Insy (one ex-Brava owner :( )

sorry to hear that mate. is there much damage to your car?
Dill.

Re: Re: One Crushed Car

Hi Insomnia

hope u are ok after your ordeal. and not in to bad a shape.

Martin

How on earth did he get on the wrong side of the cental barrier??

Sounds like you got away with that one quite lightly, apart from your car. :(

Re: Re: One Crushed Car

Dill: The car looks more like a mini atm tbh. There is no bonnet or front of the car basically. Both the passenger and drivers doors got jammed. There is absolutely no way on earth the car can be repaired as there essentially is no front of the car to repair! :(

To everyone else: Thanks for your words.

One of those things I guess. Just gotta see what the damage is when the car is assessed.

53K on the clock on a 1998 plate in good nick might get £2500 I spose. Not sure whether that's gonna get me another Bravo/a.

Time will tell.

Insy.

Re: Re: One Crushed Car

Sorry to hear about your accident, at least your alright, the car can be replaced but you can't. Although i know you won't be thinking like that just now. I remember how upset I was when i wrote of my first car. (It was a ford so no great loss there)

Re: Re: Re: One Crushed Car

perhaps a little mercenary but how much for the spoiler you fitted last week?
Dill.

Re: Re: Re: Re: One Crushed Car

Lol.

Tbh, I don't fancy your chances of me being able to get the thing off. Not only is it bolted down, its glued.

Sounds nasty!
Hope the insurance co. come up with a good offer for you.

Pics!

To the Pug205's driver who caused this.... BASTARD! :(

Got an interesting problem now in that I can't get hold of any police officers from last night who took all the details. Until I have them, my insurer seems to be pretty unwilling to do much. Being tight wads, they not keen on giving me a courtesy car either.

Hopefully should be assessed tomorrow (Tues) and then maybe summat might happen.

Re: Pics!

OUCH!

How many people saw the pug on your side of the road?

Re: Re: Pics!

you were very very lucky not to be very hurt.

I want to die peacefully in my sleep, just like my grandmother. Not like the rest of the screaming passengers in her car.

Hire car?

If your ins company won't provide a courtesy car, can't you hire a car then claim the cash back on the other guys insurance!!

Re: Pics!

i think your car will end up back on the road, prob cat c write off.it will end up at a salvage auction.good no one was hurt

courtesy car

most insurance companies dont provide a courtesy car if your is written off (i know - my old ax gti got stripped outside my house one night, i found the bloke sitting it!)

Re: Re: Pics!

a friend of mine works for a company that deal with people like yourself. For an initial payment of about £20 they handle your entire claim, they get you into a courtesy car (an EQUIVALENT ONE) and handle your entire claim on your behalf. They basically sue the other persons insurance company for you, this also means you dont lose your no-claims, as your insurers never have to pay out!!!

if i see him i will ask the company name, its something like help hire, and the insurance companies hate them because they can **** you around, but not help hire!

oh and other than the £20 its free i think - you mighht even get the £20 back!

Re: Re: Re: Pics!

Jonathan: That sounds rather useful, ta!

Been on the car hunt this afternoon. Nowt really in the Canterbury area I like. No Bravo/as thats for sure.

Although.. there does appear to be a 105 EJX JTD (Brava) with the following description:

2000, V reg. 92000 miles, fsh, slight damage to offside door, otherwise in good condition, company sale. £2,200 . + VAT.

Sounds reasonable to me. High mileage and damage.. but I still get to have a car I really enjoy driving! The company is ringing me back tomorrow morning as to whether its been already sold or not (for some reason the woman on the phone couldn't say!). The colour is a light blue-ish tint which looks nice. We shall see whether its any good/still for sale tomorrow I guess!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Pics!

Bah, really not having any luck with finding another Brava. There are some about but I keep on missing their sale - by the time I find it, its too late!

Just been to the quacks as my head and neck have got noticeably worse over time. Classic case of whiplash apparently. Great.
