Has anyone done an Engine Conversion on the Bravo JTD 105SX as Im about to make some serious changes if its possible. This is what I have planned, fit 16" or 17" Alloys (As long as it does not involve too much agro). Lower springs, Brembo Drilled Front Disc Brakes and pads, Engine Chipped +30bhp, Bigger Turbo and Dump Valve +30bhp, Body Kit including Vented Grill on bonnet and possible sports exhaust. Does anyone know if any or all the above is possible? What is the best tyre to fit that will give good grip wet and dry, must not be noisy, give good milage? Everyone says the Goodyear F1, but I want to know if there is something better because the F1 does not give good milage, I was thinking of maybe the Goodyear Ventura?.

A dump valve will not do anything for you as you don't have a throttle.

A dump valve opens when you shut the throttle to allow the turbo to keep spinning. Without a throttle the valve would never open.

Turbos on diesels are VERY different to turbos on petrol cars.

Do you know how to read??

Don't leave any reply if you don't know how to read a question. I only want replies from people who can give me straight answers....so no replies from 15 year old boys who don't have a licence please!

Re: Do you know how to read??

Nice attitude there. I was simply pointing out that your plan to fit a dump valve to a turbo diesel is pointless.

Your reply indicates to me and hopefully the rest of the list that you simply have not got a clue.

Re: Do you know how to read??

Can you please advise what part of the question has not been read? Granted, not all has been answered but a valid point has been made to 'help you' with 'your questions'

Tuning

The biggest increase will be from a tuning box (around 25%). An exhaust may give you 2-3%. Performance Filter 1%. Not sure on the other stuff.

Re: Re: Do you know how to read??

Maybe I'm missing the point here, (as I'm sure Rob D will point out)

If you really want power why not save your money and rather than throwing bucks at what is after all a diesel, go out and buy a Fiat Coupe?

My Grandad always told me you can't polish a turd.

point missing

Yes you are missing the point Huwie. A base 105bhp diesel engine can be modified as much (if not more) than it's petrol counterparts.

My Thanks so far go to CHRIS B

"CHRIS B" is the only person that has so far posted a reply to my question asking for help that actually helps me, Thanks Chris.
As for the rest of you stirring the ****, you can all suck my pipe!!!
I would not be posting a request for help if I knew anything about engine conversions so dont make stupid remarks on this post!!

Calm down!

Hey CYEBER, have a minute! The 1st reply was an answer to your dump valve yet you dismissed this as being an answer from a 15 yr old who could not read questions.

Your response to this this 'informative' answer was hardly polite! Your final post? Well, do I really need to say anything more.

Re: Calm down!

Umm no. You asked 'Does anyone know if any or all the above is possible?' to which I replied that a dump valve will not gain you anything, thus answering at least part of your question.

Yes a chip or tuning box will get you more power, yes a bigger turbo will give you more power (but maybe not 30bhp) and yes a sports exhaust might get you a little more (turbo engines generally have low back pressure systems already) but a dump valve will get you nothing.

I try and be helpful and you are just abusive.

Re: Calm down!

Thanks Wimmy. I should have kept my gob shut and let him waste a few hundred quid.

Point well & truly missed

Thanks for that Chris. Apologies for any offence taken, as none was intended.

As for Cyeber, stuff your diesel up your chuffer and if these 'great plans' ever actually materialise I look forward to seeinga photo of the forementioned turd in the gallery.

Hugs and kisses

Huw

(PS I wipe my nose on your Owners handbook)

I see....

I see some people are actually thinking before they type now. These replies are much better thought out and maybe now I will get the information I require to make an informative choice on Engine upgrades for my car.
By the way, I have a turbo diesel engine because I travel 25000 miles a year to work. Im hoping that any changes I make to the engine will not damage my 60mpg too badly, although I would be happy enough if it fell to 45mpg. Go on, tell me petrol is better, when I can have just as much fun in a turbo diesel car and pay half the fuel bills.

Re: I see....

You may be right Cyeber, my grandad swears by diesels. He also wears slingback leather driving gloves, a cravate, pork pie hat and uses a stannah stairlift ;)

Go get a life

Do you REALLY expect people to help you if you are just going to be abusive? If you really know so much why on earth did you post your questions in the first place?

In answer to your last question, more power requires more fuel so your MPG will suffer. Fact of life unfortunately.

Re: I see....

Jesus, what an attitude.

I'd recommend you fit drilled discs. These are prone to cracking and drastically reduce the life of the pads. With any luck, you'll be involved in a huge accident. Don't forget to hide the changes from your insurance company!

I give up

I give up, I came to your web site today for the first time to find some information from people I thought might know. What I have read above confirms why I never bother with these type of sites, besides "CHRIS B", the rest of you are all ****ing idiots who rub off to the likes of max power mags and still live at home sucking off their parents.
After all your wasted time trying to fight with me you still have not answered my question that started all this. Im away to ask an engine conversion specialist my questions because you pricks (Not CHRIS B) don't have a ****ing clue. I mean, why the **** do I want to know that your parents are divorced and now your mom is shagging your trend setting granda? ****ING IDIOTS!!

Re: I give up

sorry mate, if you want people to help you you should go about it in a different way. Start by not slagging off people when they give you sound advice.

From reading these posts it is you that comes accross as the spotty max power reader, wanting to mod your engine, not the forum regulars.

You are the weakest link, goodbye.
