Ok the plot is, a few months ago wifes Punto written off, ok nobody hurt and managed to get a car the same, god awful orange colour, but hey its a female thing!

Anyway got a call today, someone has bought it, had it repaired at coachworks, but now the key wont unlock the imobiliser. He rang looking for any spare keys, which I will send him, but I suspect that wont work. The guy has no internet access (sad i know) so I said i would ask on here for advice, Anybody got any ideas what the answer might be here. I suspect its a re-code of some sort but would welcome advice from someone who knows these things.

Ta in advance

Cheers

It MIGHT be worth having a new keycode ecu (not the main injection control unit) and keycode ring / antenna fitted to the car, and the keys recoded. Hopefully he already has the immobiliser code (electronic code) if he has the Code card. If not, he'll have to fork out more money to get Fiat to get the codes as the dealers themselves get charged by the security register to get the codes

Not sure on the price of the keycode ECU for a Punto, but its around £85 for a 1.4 Bravo. The keycode antenna is around £7. Be expected to pay around £20-£30 for sourcing the codes.

Hope this is of some help and if I'm barking up the right tree.

regards,
Paul
