Bought Bravo with 60.000km last month, very proud of it...

Winter coming up, freezing in Holland this week and i find my Bravo with problems getting into 1st or 2nd gear. Box makes crunchy sound, gear knob is shaking bit and gear hasn't been seleced... Re-clutch mostly does the trick, but is very annoying in slow traffics..

Any one who can help? box or clutch prob?

4got 2 mention:

problem started with 1st gear, in couple of days had it with 2nd (and today once with third, but doesnt appear to be constantly)..

Is this really just caused by the cold or is it serious?

I guess no one can help me? parked inside tonight: problem was a lot less.... but still prob to get first gear.... too bad no one can share this experience (allthough, thats a good thing, I guess). I reckon more bravo-drivers park outside... No one familiar with this problem?

Forum is a very good idea, i'll try to help as much as possible....

with regards

Notchy gear change

A notchy gear chaange has been a character trait of both my bravo's, it happens mainly in cold weather. It rarely happens, but when it does a reclutch always sorts it, either that or force the gear knob into gear. Its never happened on any gears other than 1 or 2.

I dont find it a problem, its part of the cars personality. Maybe checking the gear box oil would be a good idea, but i wouldnt worry.

Re: Notchy gear change

Yes, check the level of the gearbox oil and top up if necessary.

Alternatively refil the gearbox with gearbox oil of a lower viscosity at lower temperatures. Try some of the synthetic oils.
