Hello

I wrote on here last month asking for help in resolving my problem of the car that wouldn't start when warm.

Thankyou all for your advice. I took it to another garage who still couldn't find what the fault was. So i decided against my better judgement to put in the hands of gods to the Fiat Dealers.

They spent all day yesterday on it and came back with, its the TDC Sensor that is not working. So they fixed it at a cost of £161.45.

Well, i thought my problems were resolved so went home thinking it was worth the price to have it driving again. I guess i spoke to soon.

This morning having been out in the car then leaving it for half an hour it would'nt start. I phoned the said "Fiat dodgy dealer" and they have got it back again and trying to sort the problem out.

Does anyone know where i stand as in the way of paying for the part that i didn't need. I have already paid for this but im expecting another bill today for whatever the problem may be. Am i able to hold any money back?

Please help

On unhappy fiat driver.

sounds a bit far fetched...

but when i was in canada i had a subaru legacy that the garage spent a fortune putting in a new rear differential for the problem to turn out to be a different sized tire and they didnt charge me for the repair (and even gave me a courtesy car). i would not expect to pay for the first thing they did (or at very least not the labour on the job). if they try and charge you start whining and speak with the manager. usually this works.

good luck,

Caren,
you've got to nip this in the bud right away. Let em know that you aren't going to pay for their guess work. I don't know how long it takes to replace the TDC sensor, but I would imagine not too long. My guess is that it was getting late in the day and they thought "aw **** it" let's just do something. One thing I've come to learn about mechanics is that for every good one, there are another 20 bad ones to choose from. Tell them that you are not going to pay for their mistakes and that you want the first bill to be subtracted from the new bill. Otherwise this problem could get to be very expensive.
Good luck.

p.s. when you tell them that you want the first bill refunding, don't get mad, play the poor little woman and don't forget to flutter you eyelashes. If this doesn't work, start blubbering and plead poverty like I do.

Ha - i tried that but it doesnt work for me - maybe cos im 6ft5 bloke! ?

My brothers got the same problem on his scooby - turned out its the crankshaft sensor and camshaft sensor not working - if you get some big blokes to push the car a little way when in gear the scooby starts straight away.

Try that next time you get stuck.

If they dont refund the first bill, refuse to pay the second (wait till you've got the keys back before you refuse tho!)

i think i know

Look, i had the same problem you have and at my local fiat dealer, they fixed it inmediatly, sorry for my english but iam from spain and i dont know exactly whats the key word of the part they have to change in your car.. in spanish is called teleruptor so look into a dictionary spanish-english so u can find the word.ok?
