Guys,

My 1.6SX failed it's first MOT on a leaking rear shock absorber. The mileage is 25K and I am still in shock at how quick its gone. I know it was a hire car up until 11K - maybe someone took mountaineering. I had quotes ranging from £47 to £89 all in for one and obviously changed both at the rear. (the £47 ones!)

All the best,

leaking shocks

All 4 of mines were leaking at my first MOT 32k miles. The guy in the MOT station said it was acommon fault on bavo/a cars.

I got mine done at Kwik-fit £200 for all 4.

Shocks

I have just been qouted 65gbp for each one. The rear are dead and I have only done 32k on a P Plate Hgt that has spent about 12 months off the road.

Mine 2

One of my front shocks was gone at 14k! I was pretty amazed aswell.

Re: Mine 2

It is a common fault but it's not just limited to Fiats. All four shocks went on a friends SEAT recently and that has very little mileage on it. Heard of Fords going quite quickly too.

Shocks

What do you guys reckon' as the best replacement shocks for Bravo/Brava?

Anybody tried Sachs or OMP?

Thanks.

Me too...

Hi all,

Yeah i have had the same trouble. Shocks going at a low mileage. Still Kwik Fit had a good offer on - they usually seem well priced.

SAME HERE

I have a JTD and use it 4 work, my shocks died after 3 weeks with only 1,500miles on clock, now have heavy duty shocks and with 16k clocked up they r still as good as new, cost me 350euro.

R...... (123456) what make of shock did you fit? I also have a JTD which has taken it upon itself to waltz around corners and generally yump about a bit with 22000 on the clock-most of it spent going over the Wicklow Mountains to Dub every day.

Shocks

Just found this dealer in Malaysia who custom makes shocks which are serviceable. Going for a test run soon. Will get back to Forumers soon!

Shocks...

Apparently the shock absorbers aren't too reliable on the newer Bravos for some reason. My front shock absorbers started leaking after just 12k!!!!

I wasn't sure if it was those that had gone on the car at first, so I took it straight to Fiat, and they couldn't even find anything wrong!! How bad is that??

Luckily my warranty had a month left, so they were covered, but for fitting etc. it would have cost me £180 at the Fiat dealer!!
