I'd heard great things about the new Shell Optimax Petrol for performance cars, increasing power and giving better fuel consumption. So last time at the petrol station i thought i'd give it a go. It's expensive at 81.9p costing £35-40. to fill the tank on my HGT, but i've had good results already.

I reckon i'm on for about 400 miles from the tank rather than my average of 300 (personal best 330miles).

Can't say i've noticed a difference in performance, but the difference in fuel consumption is great.

Wondered if anyone else had tried it? Also thinking of trying super unleaded. Anyone tried this?

Optimax etc

There has been many a thread on this stuff in the past, take a look for lots of stores!

I also tried Optimax in my HGT and it works well to start with then the performance drops off after 4 or 5 fills. Once you return to Super for a couple of fills the performance returns. My friends Grffith 500 was exactly the same.

I only use Esso Super in mine and it suits the car very well, I know a number of other people have said that here as well. I know my HGT has some wierd EMS but as other people have found this also to be the case there must be something in it.

So basically DONT use optimax in your HGT use Super Unleaded and its pointless using anything other than standard unleaded in any other engined Bravo.

Optimax

I am getting about 40-50 miles more out of tank
using optimax / super unleaded.
I am basically switching between the two and the
peformance is there along with the better fuel economy.

Still I get my new car in three weeks time and will
be able to leave this forum forever.
Though I get a feeling I will come back once in a while to stick my oar in.
