Hi can anyone help please. I have an HLX with a luggage light that doesn't work. I have changed the bulb checked the fuse. I f i run a wire from end of bulb to earth it lights. I know the light uses a switch on the hatch door lock but how can i fix this please? Fiat would charge at least 35 GBP to even look at it!!!

Light On

I had a similar problem but my light stayed on and ran the battery down twice before I realised (Ooops!). The Haynes manual doesn't mention the switch at all, but my local dealer informed me it is incorporated within the unit to the left of the boot latch as you look at the car. You can see a row of female brass contacts and a corresponding row of male ones on the bootlid itself. I would guess it is a case of replacing the complete unit, which is what I did, but mine was covered by my warrenty so I cannot help you with a price or anything.

Light switch

Hi James thanks for the suggestiion. Unfortunatly the switch that you are referring to is not present on my car. Therefore the light must be operated by some hidden switch. I have had all the tailgate trim off and failed to find it. Any ideas anyone please?

Light Switch

On my series 2 80SX the microswitch that controls the boot light is situated in the lock asembly on the openning part of the boot. If you look at the back of the lock asembly there is a plastic cover which is held in place by two lugs. If you remove this you should be able to see the microswitch and adjust it.

Thanks John

John, mine is the same. Thanks very much. Unfortunatky the switch on mine is knackered. This means a new catch assembly as the micro switch is riveted to it. Typical Fiat!!!
Regards
Robin
