High fuel consumption

Hi,

My Brava TD100 seems to use 15 litres of diesel per 100km. Is this normal? I don't drive sporty or accelerate out of the ordinary. What figures do you guys score?

Regards, Jeroen

Half of it is right !

I own the same car, and I always calculate fuel consumption: never been more than 8 l/100km, average is 7 l/100km, but at steady 130km/h it may need only be 5,8 l/100km. My car has reached 153000 km, but diesel consumption has never changed from new.
Some hints: do you notice very much black smoke from the exhaust? let your injection system be checked, and air filter changed.... but
be sure you take diesel fuel from honest petrol stations: differences of 5% may not be on the car's account, because the real delivered volume of diesel fuel may change from place to place.. ;))

Hmm mistake I made

Oops, it's not 15 l/100km but 6.5 l/100km. So that's about the figures you have. My car has reached 173000 and I drive around 145km/h all the time on the highways. I thought it would be much more fuel efficient according to the prospects. Air filter has just been changed (the old one was really filthy). Doesn't seem to affect the fuel consumption though. I was going to take it to the dealer to let the consumption get checked but it seems to me that isn't neccesary.
Thanks.
