My rear box has finally given up after five years on the original exhaust, so I need to get it replaced.

I'm not after anything fancy, just a bog-standard high-street replacement. Anyone got any recommendations, prices etc? I guess I'll be getting the rear and mid sections replaced (hopefully not the cat!).

Is it best to stick to a genuine (ie expensice) FIAT replacement or just ATS, Quik-Fit etc? I'm in Ruislip, Middx if that makes any difference...

I got a replacement from kwik-Fit a couple of years ago for my 1.4sx. It was a fair bit cheaper than FIAT at £150 (Apparently on the 1.4sx it the full system from the CAT back as it doesn't come in bits). The only thing is that it does sound a bit rough and noisey as it is a cheap after market part. It's up to you but it's something to look out for.

Just changed my exhaust

Fitted a magnex dtm that looks eally good ( after initial worries about looking too boy racer) for £155 fitted by Halfords (just the back box). They seemed to do lots of sportier exhausts across different prices and fitting was free. I'm not a great fan of theirs but worth checking out?

I also have the Magnex twin DTM an think it looks great. I got the cat back system though for £305 (i think).

Did you maintain your catalyst converter. When you change to a performance exhaust, currently, do feel more power during take off.

I kept the cat and front 'part' (must be some technical term but don't know it). Having run around without a back box for about a month and a half it's a bit difficult to make a direct comparison on performance but I think it feels freer reving and the sound is just a little sportier - not the sort that shakes windows as you go past. So far it's turned out far better than I had hoped.
