I HAVE RECENTLY BOUGHT AN "R" REG.FIAT BRAVA 1.4S BUT THE RECEPTION I RECEIVE ON MY RADIO WHEN I TUNE IN TO MEDIUM WAVE IS VERY POOR I.E. "CRACKLING NOISE". THIS NOISE DISAPPEARS WHEN I HAVEN'T GOT THE IGNITION ON. ANY IDEAS ON HOW I CAN OVERCOME THIS? DO I NEED A BOOSTER? IT IS DRIVING MAD BECAUSE SOME OF MY FAVOURITE PROGRAMS ARE ON MEDIUM WAVE.

Can't think why you would use a car HI-FI for MW but if you do you need a better aerial. It is mainly the feed back to the set that gives interference. The really best way to improve it is to earth the outer cable a few times on the way to the set. Just cut back the insulator and screw a metal clip in contact with the braiding.

I also listen to MW for Talk Sport and Radio 5. However I found that if the arial isn't over about 65 degrees up then the signal is bad. Above this it is fine, but it depends on the area. I live in the midlands and work in the south quite a lot and my reception improves the further down the M40 I go!
It also don't work with a roof rack full of windsurfer boards!
