Hi! Has anybody fitted an Ecotek device to their bravo/a which is supposed to improve performance/economy? If so, does it work?

Thanks

Miniturbo

I've fitted a Miniturbo, and the results are amazing.
I think you can order worldwide at www.miniturbo.com.

Fitted both of the above

I have fitted both of these devices. First the ecotek device, easy to fit and really has made a difference to jerky starts and fuel consumption. Tricky to set up at first, not difficult at all but can be time consuming, if you buy then also buy additional airfilter that sits on top. My fuel consumption is around 35mpg around town, about 60 miles extra per tank on my 1.8 hlx.
Mini turbo device fitted within last 6 weeks, ordered from Argentina, really helpful and friendly person running site, I was dubious at first but it really makes a differnce at speeds above 60, much smoother throttle response and more urgency. No harm done at least, you have nothing to loose.
Good luck
Cheers

Where can you get the ecotek in the UK ??

I'd like to try these on my HGT. Since my girlfriend has started driving her the fuel consumption has plummeted, I used to get 320-340 miles to a tankful now I'm lucky if it makes 280. And I use superUL as well :(

Ecotek

Take a look at www.ecotekplc.co.uk

They're about £50 and you can buy a filter for about £15.

fitting ecotek on 1.8 hlx

Im interesrted in buying a ecotek device.
Is it easy to fit? (I ahve absolutely no mechanical experience) Do you think im better off paying a few extra pounds to get it fitted, or is it so easy that anyone could do it?

Cheers

I've ordered it, so I hope it is easy to fit.

According to the web page it looks reasonable easy :)
It's the connection to the plenum chamber that I am unsure of.

Easy

On the 1.8 hlx it is very easy to fit, but if you are unsure then yes it would be worthwhile in a few extra pounds to have fitted.
Good luck

Instructions

will the device come with fitting instructions?

instructions

it does come with instructions but really they are very general and since every type of car is different they don't tell you exactly where the pipe you have to cut is. A Haynes manual comes in handy although for some reason the pipes in my 1.6 are in completely different positions to the ones on the Haynes manual's 1.6 :( so it was a case of make a good guess and slice the pipe. Thankfully I got the right one :) . These are well worth the money, make the engine run smother but only really make a difference to economy on the open road.

ecotek

Has anyone fitted an Ecotek to an 80SX (1250 FIRE engine)? If so, please where does it go? I had one on a Golf 1800 carburettor, and I'd like to refit it, but I know nothing about fuel injected engines!! I have plenty of time, as the car is still under guarantee so I cannot tamper with it for a while yet, at least I assume I can't.
