I am just in the process of applying for a stand at this year's Retro Rides Gathering at Shelsley Walsh.

More information is here

I don't know much about the location but it looked good on Top Gear a few weeks ago! The event itself is usually fantastic (it's been at Prescott hillclimb the last few years).

There will be plenty of classic & retro stuff to look at, lots of modified stuff, and cars going up the hillclimb. Also a chance to take your car up on the day if you want (y) There are some Classic Panda's making noises about going up the hillclimb, which will be fun! :)

Anyone interested please put your name down above.

More info later, and no-one will be held to it. I just want an idea of numbers at the moment. :worship:

The event wants mainly 1995 (ish) and older but a few newer cars are ok as part of a display. This is where you stop mocking the Panda's and thank them for all being old, as it lets some newer Fiat's join in! ;) Newer cars fitting the theme will be ok (e.g. a mk1 Punto is fine IMO) - newer cars not really fitting the theme will be ok as long as we have enough older ones there, so register your interest & we'll work it out later.

Cheers, Gavin. (y)

Update 3/3/14: All booked in - the organisers seem really on the ball, so looking good. Just need a good turnout now (y)

Update 25/7/14: The website link above does enable you to get to the ticket page, but it's not easy to navigate - ticket page is at:

http://retrorides.tictail.com

You will need to buy an entry ticket, though these are available on the gate. I am expecting car passes, but this will be to get the car on the stand only (not to get you in). (y)

25/8/14 There is now information on the hillclimb rules & procedures at http://retroridesgathering.com/rwyb-hillclimb/

The Club passes have arrived and been either given out or posted (snail mail left on Saturday, so should arrive Weds, maybe.... ).

Weekend ticket booked, majorly looking forward to this!

I'm planning on taking the Saab (sorry!), but I'll definitely be watching the Pandas on the hill :)

Anyone else camping?

That's ok - we can put it at the back...... :p

No seriously, happy to have it on the stand if you want to join us?

Not camping, no - last time in the Panda tent was enough. ;)

Haha, shucks!

No really, that's very kind, I appreciate the offer. :)

I'll let you know nearer the time - if the bugger decides not to work then the dependable monochromatic bear will definitely be on the scene!

My Panda's definitely going up the hill if I bring it. It's less likely to ruin the gearbox than the Saab

Part of me wants the Saab to break, so we have another Panda. That's not nice though...

Besides, I like Saab's. It is welcome on the stand coz of this! As homeward will realise from the NEC, I don't operate a democracy if I'm organising a stand - Fiat's, Alfa's & Lancia's all get a block invite, Saab's are fine along with anything else interesting, anyone with an MGB is in the wrong place..... ;)

I guess they are kind of related via the 9000 / Tempera (or Croma?) / Thema.

The Panda and 900 are roughly the same age so I suppose it's like the Panda's deranged and overly stacked Swedish second cousin...

It was the type 4 platform - Alfa 164 / Lancia Thema / Fiat Croma / Saab 9000 (the Tempra was the booted Tipo, and believe it or not, the Coupe is a Tipo platform!). (y)

Don't think there's much in common between the 900 and a Panda, but that doesn't matter. Either a car is interesting (to me) or it isn't.

I very nearly got massively distracted by the thought of an overly stacked Swedish cousin - and I wasn't thinking of cars!!! ;)

Haha no not a lot - the tail light bulbs are the same type but that's about where it ends I think :)

There a chap on one of the Saab forums (fora?) who owns a 900 Convertible - his signature is something along the lines of '20 years young, Swedish and topless' :worship:

Thanks for the type 4 info - always fancied the idea of a 164 estate...

What like this? Panda's included..... (y)

May have to come in the Punto, unless Hal has been miraculously resurrected...!

Absolutely fine, or..........

"Dramatic pause".......

You are truly welcome to use the Uno whenever you want, it's just a case of getting it to you. It drives really well if you can excuse the gearbox clunks (well bang really) from cold and would be an ideal Panda substitute until you get a Selecta sorted?

Ohh think I might try and get to this. Looks like my kinda of show from the pictures (y)

Is there going to be a Fiat Forum stand? My Bravo HGT hardly retro in age but is quite an old design now. Would probably fit in quite well. (y)

Should be fine as part of a stand. (y)

Yes we have a stand. All applied for, so we just need plenty of cars now. :worship:

It's an X reg though, so about 9 years too young going by their website :D ... may just come along for the day... 70s,80s and 90s cars are my thing.

On the club page http://retroridesgathering.com/club-stands/ it says the odd newer one is ok (y) You're fine but I'll need to keep an eye on how many more newer ones go as it needs to have some retro stuff too.
