General Ducato 2.8 JTD Auto

I have a problem with the auto gearbox warning light on my ducato staying on until the engine/gearbox has warmed up. I can't select any gears until this warning light goes out which means running the engine from cold for 10+ mins. Any suggestions Please.

happens a lot on many fiat autos. often it helps if you stick it into N for a few mins (while it warms up) as this increases line pressure in the transmission (it usually advises you to do this in your owners manual).
also consider using 3 instead of D for the first couple of miles as 3 will usually select before D.
