Hi, I've a 1992 1.9 td ducato, rather worryingly the oil light glows intermitently after about 1/2 hours driving, engine sounds fine, could it be a sensor problem ?
previous keepers just come back from spain in it. He said he changed the oil only a few thousand miles ago, although it looks pretty black to me, has anyone experienced similar problem ?

Hello, I have the very same problem, see yours was last year, have you solved it. Fiat did a pressure test and said the pressure was too high.
Must replace oil pump, I am not convinced and its 1500€ patrs and work.

I did change the sensor, still the same, did 100km before the light flickered yestarday. Please get back if you see this to

bobina81, how long ago did you have this problem, have you solved it and how. Brian[ knocknacara]

Hello, I have the very same problem, ... Fiat did a pressure test and said the pressure was too high. ... I did change the sensor, still the same, did 100km before the light flickered yestarday. ...

I have a 1993 Ducato motorhome with 2.5 Iveco turbo diesel motor. My oil pressure warning light is intermittent in that sometimes it doesn't even come on when the engine is switched off, prior to starting, although there is obviously no oil pressure. Other times it works fine. This suggests to me that there is a fault with either sensor or wiring.

On the basis that oil pressure gauges are neither hugely expensive nor difficut to fit - e.g. see http://www.speeding.co.uk/acatalog/Car_Accessories_Oil_Pressure_Gauges___Mountings_156.html - I propose to do just that; I will then be able to monitor the oil pressure whilst driving. In your case this would address any argument about over pressure etc. because you can see what the pressure is when the light comes on: far cheaper than paying your dealer a small fortune to change the oil pump and then still having a problem!

In practice I may fit a dual gauge so I can monitor the oil temperature too. As my motor has already covered 137,000 km and I'd like it to do the same again, I think that's a comparatively small expense.

hello brian, i never did solve it, as i went and traded it in, i was never convinced it was a real problrm though, as the engine always sounded as sweet as a nut.

I have a 1993 Ducato 1.9TD and had exactly the same problem soon after I bought the van. I checked the wiring and connectors which seemed OK, I then changed the oil pressure switch and that fixed it. I have covered over 80,000 miles since I bought it, the speedo has just passed 140,000 miles, and the fault has not occurred again.

Very interesting. We have just purcased a new 2007 ducato motorhome and have only driven 144kms. We have an intermittent oil indicator warning on the electronic screen. We have also had an immediate "campaign" recall just 32kms after purchase for a gearbox issue. Gearbox fully replaced. Apparently a casting problem. The rear reverse lights also failing. Oil and lights issue - electrical problem or ??? Any one with any similar experience and advice?

As you can imagne, we are bitterly disappointed and frustrated with the need to yet again return the car to mechanics. Only managed to get the thing home. Beginning to wonder if all hype behind the FIAT branding is a load of bull and we have fallen for it (expensively).

Had exactly the same problem. Was advised could be a worn oil pump. as the oil gets hot it thins. A couple of bottle of SPD oil treatment sorted it. Van has been to Greece and back twice now and no repeat oil light. Anyway worth a try.

I had a problem with my '01 2.8jtd with the oil light coming on with the ignition, replaced the sensor and the short wiring loom to the sensor, no luck. Changed the alternator and the problem was solved!! I've no idea why this worked as there doesn't appear to be any relation between any of the alternator and oil warning circuits!!
Keep well,
Torq

I have a 2016 2.3 euro6 Ducato Autotrail motorhome. The oil warning light comes on when I start the engine and stays on. This only started after I had a full service at 8000KM. Fiat have fitted a new sensor but no different. I have had 3 recalls 6042, 6152 and 6172 but neither of these relate to the oil warning light. The oil level is fine so I am stumped and the Fiat dealer doesn't seem to know what to do.

Have they replaced the filter could be a dud. Is it and oil pressure switch they replaced or an oil level sensor?
