Recently I purchased a '06 Ducato van and the ignition has been changed out with a starter switch and push ignition start button. Key for the barrel still needed for the steering lock.

I'm not sure at all what they've done to it electronically.. Obviously before purchase I did a Is It Stolen check and believe they genuinely lost the key.

If the key has been changed I guess the transmitter isn't compatible with the receiver. I'm wondering if I buy a 12v key fob and receiver unit I could somehow bypass the central locking receiver with that unit.

Currently on the drivers door the central locking sounds like it activates to unlock but nothing at all when the lock is pressed.

Any thoughts on diagnosing this issue to begin with?
