Hi all I’ve just got myself a Ducato YR 2021 and disappointingly it has bulb DRLs as opposed to the LED type. I have been offered some LED ones and they appear like for like fit. However, I’ve been told that it may not be possible due to reprogramming required of the ECU to accept these. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

When you see how much Fiat want for the LED bulb option I'm not surprised. Its over a grand
(I guess the converters who buy lots of Ducatos get a good discount on that)
So I'll stick with ordinary bulbs. I think what you have been told is right because when I have tried different bulbs before the body computer said No :(
Its been programmed for a certain wattage and regards anything else as a fault. :(

Hi yes it came as part of a special pack I believe. I wasn’t just wanting to change the bulbs to LEDs I was actually wanting to change the whole headlamp unit to the LED factory version. So what I’m saying is the units are a like for like swap fitment wise but I’m sure someone else did this and the units didn’t function properly.

Even if you got it going what happens when bulbs fail a long way from home?
Across the channel you have to carry spare bulbs by law.
I like the LEDs too, all my non-essential (interior) lights are LED, but will wait till the essential lights LEDs become more available and sensibly priced.

Even if the units are direct replacements if the vans computers are monitoring the bulbs for failure then the led bulbs will use a lot less power so to the computer it will think there is a fault

Probably the LED version have the monitoring coded out.

As for carrying bulbs, modern cars are full of LEDs these days that are not replaceable, the tail lights of my golf do not have a single replaceable bulb and my wife’s mini has LED headlights which I believe you can replace for the cost of your first born, there is no way you would carry a bulb for each side of the cars head lights that cost hundreds of pounds each, and that’s not even getting into matrix head lights or laser head lights
