Hi there folks, I have had a "deep squeak" sound coming from the front suspension every time I pass over bumps on dirt roads at low speed. Its not the shock absorbers as they were replaced a few months ago, so I suspect it is one of the several sets of bushes in the front suspension. Or engine mounts?

I got under the vehicle to look at them, but its hard to tell if they are worn out. I do not know how many there are or what they are called. I am in northern Spain, and a local mechanic might know, but so that not too much is lost in translation, thought I would pick the brains of the forum. Thanks!

Hi ????,

Have you considered the upper front strut mountings/bearings, which may not have been changed with the shock absorbers?

My old transport manager told me to squirt all the rubber pivot bushes with strong solution of washing up liquid and water. It this does work, I would follow up with a spray of silicon lube and then silicon grease. Keep this away from the brakes of course. It definitely provides a cure at least for a while for dry rubber. Dont forget anti roll bar bushes.

Beware washing up liquid contains loads of salt, try and go straight for silicon. Thetfor toilet casstte lip seal spray is just that, and may be easier to get if you are away?

The soap and water works a treat! Still, the outside of the bush looks a little perished and it is hard to tell what the interior of the bush is like unless I take it off.

I am wondering if I replace the bushes, if it will have any appreciable effect on the sway bar performance?
