Hi all.

I could not find any clear answer in past messages , so I will have to ask it for myself.
Are there any workshop manuals available for the X250 Ducato 2.2 Puma that aren't rubbish ?

I have been able to find downloads here and there , and I have even bought a couple online , but they are all JUNK !

I am a retired mechanic , so I do not need baby steps instructions , but I sure wouldn't mind proper exploded diagrams , technical specifications and the differences between model variations.

Cost is no object if I get something that is worth it.

Any tips guys --- TNX :)

Puma engine is Ford - money pit and junk in my experience ..!!

Thanks for your opinion , but we all know how much value opinions have.

The Puma based engine is one of Europe's most used type of engines , carried across many brands , vans , 4 wheel drives and cars.

There are many variations of actual construction and parts used within this engine model and some have experienced reliability problems. (eg - in Citroen vans)

Other brands versions have been very reliable and good performers.

My engine has 330 thousand km on the clock , previous owners have abused it to hell and back , but it runs like new , with good acceleration.

A recent trip netted me a averaged consumption result of 4.9 liters per 100km.

I have not spent a cent on the motor in this aside from service consumables.

Hardly a money pit , in MY experience.....

Now , would you like to offer a answer to my questions raised in the first post ?

Sorry to burst your bubble but MY experience is different , i have had 2 , 1 from new, my friend has had four [ transits, all late models ] and he has had problems, as has a another local company that runs a fleet of minibuses .

Crankshaft dampers failing and breaking up .

Camchain tentioners breaking up and and causing the head and camcarriers to smash to pieces .

Oil pump tentioners failing and causing the above .

Front timing covers distorting , and leaking along with crankseal failure.

Regular egr valve failure

And i could go on , but hey ho glad you have had a good experience.

You will probably be in raptures over the new2 litre version of this engine as well then ..!!!

Moderators please delete my account , I have no time for this ****.
I joined up to ask a very simple question , instead all I got was Jesus and his opinions.

Sadly , it is obvious I do not fit here.
Delete the account - I wont be back (not even to check any reply to this comment) , why should I return - there is nothing here that interests me.

Sorry that my experiences do not match with yours ,no need to get upset , you seem to have been very lucky with yours , maybe your problems are about to start , hence the reason for a workshop manual .

Loads of helpful info and people on this forum and on you tube at the push of a button .

The 2.2 ducatto engine is a fiat engine not a ford puma engine
It's vastly newer the the ford units and also dosnt require ad blue which I believe the ford engines do

Yes there is a 2.2 litre Fiat engine, which was announced in 2015.

However Duke has specifically mentioned the "Puma" engine, which is of Ford origin.

No one has mentioned eLearn for the x250. Is this because eLearn does not cover the 2.2 puma engine, or is it not considered worthy of mention?

I have a copy of eLearn applicable to my x244 2.8 JTD, and while I have found several errors in the wiring diagrams, it is still a usefull starting point.

Having had various Ducatos and boxers over the years ,i found a lot of the info worked for me [albeit the puma engines can be a pain ] ..!!!

As mentioned earlier , the transit forums are a mine of information [ much of which i used !!] I no longer have a Seval van , but run a late D23 Nissan truck [ and more woes ] .

Our friend who shuffled off in a huff because he did not like a few home truths about the Puma motors would would not like to hear about the Ecoboom motors from Ford and the latest models cracking there exhaust manifolds at around 40/50 k miles [ so numerous that main dealers keep a stock of them at £29 each ] , or the great idea of running a rubber fabric belt submerged in hot oil , which then shreds and blocks the oil pump and can total the motor and those motors have won awards ..!!

I've heard about these belts, absolute nonsense. I have now sourced the manual and it wasn't any help to me. Thanks for reply :)

Have you got anything on the 2.2 puma engines anywhere please
There is some information on the 2.2 in the following downloads:

(The latter offers 2 downloads, you want the training manual, not the "1st training manual")
