Hi, bonnet release cable seized, been oiling and wd 40 on it for a few days soaking no joy

Apparently no longer available from fiat, Fiat part number is 1338862080.

RHD, handle just left of steering column, any ideas for a replacement, been searching on line and eBay all listed from 06 onwards different numbers

Is there anyway of cross referencing Peugeot or Citroen, or if anyone sure a 06 cable would fit?

Nice to see that you are still posting. Just a thought, as you will have to remove the cable to replace it. Could/have you tried removing some of the cable under the bonnet. You should than be able to flex it slightly, and if suspended, run WD40 etc down into it.

Hi comms, yes so annoying how something so trivial can cause so much hassle!

Had service and MOT yesterday without any faults, but this is trying my patience

Got the cable disconnected under bonnet cable tied some pipe to it and filled with oil and wd40 several times, really hard to get under dash end as A class hymer no bloody door on drivers side!

At the risk of jinxing it had no more trouble with immolbiliser since taking alarm out of starter circuit, may of been bad connection there? been ok for first 12 years like it?

I am not sure that you fully understood my suggestion, so I will try to say it in a different way.

What I was trying to suggest was that if you gently flex or bend the cable with your fingers, the bending will cause tension between the inner and outer members of the cable. This could help to separate the inner from the outer.

Hi comms, well I was lucky as we still have one old fashioned scrap yard near us, one ducato in there with good cable so done now

Just for reference info from hymer owners, Speedy cables near Swansea can make any cables you need if they have your old one, to use your original end fittings, my quote was £36

May I suggest a good, and regular dose of lubrication for the replacement.
