Hi there,

I have recently started to get my ducato back on the road after sitting idle for 18 months.

I have noticed that the speedo gauge and fuel gauge have stopped working.
I have plugged in my ODB bluetooth adapter and can get readings from the canbus for both the fuel level and speedo.
I was wondering what might be the issue, could the instrument panel be faulty of a wiring fault from the NBC to the instrument panel.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Craig

A possible cause could be a poor connection at the instrument binnacle.

As my vehicle is an x244, I cannot give precise instructions for an x250. On the x244, the binnacle is retained by 4 off Torx headed (T20?) screws, of which the rearmost two (nearest to the driver) are concealed.

To minimise the possibility of causing further problems, disconnect the starter battery negative.

With the binnacle unbolted for access, try reseating the connectors.

Just stripped out the instrument panel, gave all four analogue gauge needles a good working backwards and forwards and hey presto! All working again!!

I wonder just how many people have been ripped off for a new ECU when they have had this issue??

Simple to access, just 4 screws to take out using a 25 size Torx driver, the first two aren't that obvious, one up under the upper corner of each side of the panel cover.

Once they are removed lift the grey panel from the back (2 spring clips there so you need to pull on it a bit)

That leaves the instrument cluster held in by 2 more screws at the rear of the panel vertically positioned into the mounting plate. Take those out then disconnect the multi way connector.

You now need to carefully pry apart the snap fittings around the edge of the instrument cover the when the covers are in two pieces lift out the centre piece.

The needles are now accessible so gently give them a wiggle through the normal operating range, leaving them roughly where they should be with ignition switched off.

Plug it back in and give it a try before putting it all back together in reverse order to the dismantling process.

I'm new to the forum and joined to solve that very problem with my 2008 130 Multijet Ducato 6 speed manual motorhome! Short term can anyone tell me the rpm/mph in the gears?
Thanks

I'm new here too.
70 mph in 5th at 3000 rpm.
I lost speedo temp an fuel guage after a jump start and the camper had been laying up for the winter.
I disconnected the battery an waited 15 minutes to reset the body computer
This resulted in the speedo an temperature gauge now working.
I also striped the instrument cluster and twiddle the needles.
I did notice both the speedo and temp guages were sluggish and jumpy for a while but came good after a long drive. I would not really recommend twiddling them like I did.
I will post more info when I get back to testing the fuel guage.
Does anyone here know the pinout on the cluster. I know its in the wiring diagram but at the moment I don't have access to a windows computer to open the download file.
Thanks to all hope this helps.
