Background
Tale of woe. When I bought the van was plagued by black smoke. Air filter choked. New filter but still dense smoke. However passes MoT ?????
Garage checked and found 2 injectors were going off. Due to bloody sheared set bolts instead of studs, some had to be drilled out !!!!.
Had cam belt inspected and told ok.
3000 miles later whilst at speed (70mph) ground to a halt (broken cam belt).

Investigation found that the Chain at back (driving second camshaft) had snapped/seized causing cam shaft to twist and then snap primary drive belt.

No damage to pistons etc. Head rebuilt, new key ways machined and replacement cam shafts fitted. Main pump showed signs of seepage so was changed. EGR thoroughly cleaned out. 1000 miles later clutch master cylinder started leaking, as cylinder was inside clutch housing had new clutch fitted.

The severe loss of power. Diagnosed as turbo failure (waste gate stuck open). New oem turbo fitted,

Problem eased but still having to change down on hills that before she used to fly up. Cruises happily at 70+ but no torque lower down.

Idles smoothly and no sign of black smoke ever now.

Have now detected a miss fire at 1800/2000 rpm most noticeable at cold but detectable warm. Has no real power or torque when it should be developing most torque. No warning lights (have never seen reg light on, don't know if it has one) The only thing is that the stop start is very intermittent.

Any ideas anybody or know of a specialist in Berkshire.

Many thanks

JJ
