Hi there

I've got a 2011 Ducato and when I first got it I noticed that the sliding door was temperamental with locking/unlocking. Now though, it doesn't unlock/open at all from the outside. It can be opened from the inside with a decent shove, but then once open, the middle latch/lock seems to jam shut so you can't close the door again without having to force the latch open again. Also it's caused the door to not seal fully which is less than ideal as will be using this as a campervan and need the doors to seal, and the sliding door will be the main door used! I thought it was maybe a problem with the contacts (seen people suggesting this in previous threads) but then seems strange that it can be opened from the inside?

I was just going to buy a new locking mechanism but wanted to double check if anyone had any ideas before I spend the money. How would you check the contacts are clear/working?

Thanks!

On an x250 I expect that the body computer (BCM) will carry out the functions performed by the locking and window module on my earlier 2006 x244.

However I surmise that the actual components mounted on the sliding door will be similar. That is lock motor, internal release button, external key lock for mechanical operation only, and of course the locking mechanism.

The sliding door contacts carry power for the lock motor. If these were faulty mechanical operation of the lock should still be possible.

From the symptoms described, I think that the problem is mechanical. A vital operating rod could be bent, or misplaced. Perhaps the mechanism is lacking lubrication? As you suggest replacing the mechanism, worth looking first, to confirm possible faulty part, before parting with ££s?

Yeah using the manual key also doesn't help open it from the outside. I did try to look and found it really difficult to ID which part is broken as I don't actually know what they are supposed to look like in the first place! (First time van owner). I will try lubricating the mechanism, would just plain WD-40 work? Thanks for your help!!
