Hi all, i have a Ducato 2.8 JTD, lately the oil warning light is coming on from time to time, had a new pressure switch fitted and oil and filter change, when starting the engine it seems to take a long time for the oil light to go out, also if i remove the oil filler cap there seems to be no oil getting to the camshaft, anyone any thoughts on this problem. Cheers

Things that come to mind as possible causes are worn oil pump gears if high mileage, or partially blocked strainer in the sump. Why?

As a possible aid to investigation I have attached a lubrication diagram for the Iveco 2.8JTD, from which the Fiat 2.8JTD is derived. Obvious differences are oil filter orientation, and inlet manifold.

thanks for the drawing, very helpful, as there is no pressure gauge it is difficult to know the oil pressure, think it may have to go to the garage for further investigation, they may be able to connect a pressure gauge to the system via the oil pressure switch connection

I have had several of these 2.8 turbo engines in RWD format Iveco Daily's and with regular oil and filter changes have been good for high mileages.
If there are no horrible mechanical noises top or bottom of engine, I would start with an engine flush and new oil and filter, if that doesn't help with oil pressure then the gauze filter in the sump may be blocked.
