Hello all.

I've a 2006 Adria motorhome based on the Ducato 2.8jtd Maxi 146 bhp.
I feel a bit silly for asking this, is this red light part of the base vehicle or part of the conversion?
And what is it for please?

At what points does it illuminate?

I haven't been able to make it illuminate yet. I haven't tried too hard though!!!

Could it be to tell you the step is out if the engine is started?

Possibly.... Although the step retracts automatically

Does the vehicle have a tow bar? Sometimes people have a warning light or some other warning device to remind them that electrics are connected to a trailer?

I agree with varsecrazy in that it is most probably aftermarket.

The most likely functions are either as suggested by Rayc a step out indicator, or an aftermarket alarm indicator.

If it is a step out indicator, the LED should be lit when either the ignition is switched on, or when the engine is started, until the step is almost fully retracted.

For the alarm function on my vehicle, the LED illuminates briefly every few seconds when the alarm is set.

On my 2006 x244 2.8JTD PVC, the alarm indicator was originally located in the locaton shown on the photograph, and the step indicator was fitted into the panel below it. To aid visibility of the step out indication I have swapped the positions of the two LEDs.

I've tried everything but I can't make it work!!!

There are sensors present which indicate the presence (at one time) of an alarm and I think it must be linked to this.

It's not causing me a problem, so I won't be looking for one.
If anything comes to light (!) I'll let you know.

Mine is the 2006 VAN and is pretty much standard.
I do not have that red light there.

There is a removal plastic panel there for something optional....like what you have.


Mine is just a van. No automatic sidestep on it.

Ask the previous owner or an Adria dealer ..!!

The small panel and it's twin are covers for the rearmost instrument binnacle fixing screws.

I've acquired a Spanish handbook and lo and behold the light in question is part of the Fiat alarm system!!
