Hello everyone,

Everytime after some rain my driverseat safetybelt gets wet, there's water pouring in somewhere. I've already adjusted the rubber strip above the door entrance, still leaks in. Sealing rubber of the door itself is in good condition. Can't seem to find a leak on the roof. I am about to dismantle the area round the safetybelt but like to ask this question here first;
Has anyone experienced a similar situation? What is causing this problem?

My car starts to rot at the bottom underneath the door entrance on the right corner because of the water :(

the sealing of the joints on the roof have lost their paint, exposing the yellow epoxy, but it seems in good condition.

My Brother in Law has the same problem on the passenger side (right hand drive van) of his van, we have not been able to find the water entry point, is this a known problem?

Check the door seal fit as it may need to be adjusted , as it can let water in which then runs around the doorframe and puddles under the plastic door step . where it cannot escape [ can hold up to 3/4 litres of water which cannot escape ] this is why the steps corrode .
If you take off the trim where the body ecu is check for daylight where the panels are joined , as this will need to be filled with foam to stop the almighty draught you can get coming up the seat beat moulding ...!!
On my 2014 Peugeot on the passenger sidestep there are also a load of electrical connectors which [ if the assemblers fit to the lower holes ] can sit in this pool of water and give you additional grief....!!!

I moved mine up to the higher set of holes and now have a drain hole on both my steps , this will enable you to transit floods or water up to the doorstep without soaking the electrics and it has a means to escape .

okay... so all points to the sealrubber of the door? Question about the metal construction of the ducato. I've welded shut some rotting spots about 2 years ago (see pic.) and the one under the door is 'sweating' water since I've noticed the leaking that wets my safetybelt. Is the space behind my safetybelt a vertical corridor thats end in a horizontal bar that runs at the length of the car or is it a compartimented space in the bar where water can bottle up at the right endspot of the doorway?

On my vehicle [2014] i had a draught up by my right arm , thought it was the doorseal , but then checked under belt cover and could see daylight straight down [ must be tolerances all being wrong when the robots assemble the shell ] so i sealed with spray foam , result ..!!

I dont think water can seep along the sills from there as the rearward section is blocked off and blind .
The door problem i found was when it rained [ not very often here in Spain but when it does it persists down ..] my mats on my steps where wet , so lifted the mats and the step mouldings and found 2 young ponds with water swilling around some wireing looms and ecus , thats when i modified mine .

Solved.... at least found the origin of water in car. stripped the panelling round the safetybelt and put a waterhose on the roof. immediately water started pouring in. It seems the Expoxy tape of FIAT which is used to seal the roof on the panelborders has some weak spots. first water drips in and flows over the inner cabintop-panel before falling into the sidespace where the safetybelt is.

The paint on the epoxytape has gone leaving its yellow basecolor. first thought was sealing it on the outside but depending on what I'll find when I remove the cabin inner roof I might seal it from the inside. This to have the raingutters as even as possible.

all thanks for your input up to now, and succes with solving the similar problems

Whilst you have the cab roof and shelf down recover it [ i did mine with 4way stretch material from A S supplies in Ipswich UK ] as you will find that the moulding has discoloured and it will not clean , so now is an opportunity to do something about it .
