I just bought a 2010 Fiat Ducato Maxi Multijet 120 manual transmission. On the way home going up the mountain when I would shift gears the engine oil pressure warning light would momentarily go on then go off. When I got up to Jerusalem and was driving around the parking lot looking to park the light came on again and said to pull over and shut down the engine immediately. I parked, went to an appointment came back and drove it the rest of the way home without the light coming on. Called the seller who spoke with his driver who said it's been doing this for years. Oil is full with no noticeable leaks, and the records for the vehicle indicate oil and filter changes every 10,000 kilometers over the past few years. I'm only able to connect to the EOBD interface and no DTC's show, although the engine warning light is on. Tried connecting directly with my Launch X431 but it couldn't identify it.

So this could be a defective oil pressure sensor, wiring or gunk intermittently clogging the oil pick up in the sump?

Wondering what angle to attack this from. Maybe some seafoam to flush the crankcase + oil and filter change then if that doesn't work change the sensor? Are there any known issues in regards to this? Is there someplace I can download the workshop manual and wiring diagrams? We're planning on converting this to a camper.

The whole thing of the light coming on when shifting gears on an incline has me scratching my head a bit...

Hi, I have a 2014 Maxi and the same message has been appearing since about 6mths after I bought the Motorhome NEW. I've had the Oil pump replaced within warranty, that didn't fix it, and my local Fiat Professional couldn't find the problem to sort it. The message appears on my van EVERYTIME I start it for the first time during the day and then re-starting the van later it doesn't do it I think because the oil has already circulated and some residual pressure still exists. I've changed the Pressure sensor and had a new engine earth strap fitted still no difference. The sensor thats fitted switches at 0.8bar and I was thinking of having a 0.6bar fitted to see if that makes any difference, and thats still within the engine parameters. I had contacted a guy that operates a fleet of Ducatos and he'd seen this message before and he said that as long as the message disappears there's no problem. Its the way the on-board computer receives the signals back from the sensors at times there out of sequence. If you discover anything else I would be happy to hear from you.

I think I found the oil pressure sensor under the oil filter, is this it?

Hi, The oil pressure switch / sensor is behind the starter motor. If you put your hand over it you'll feel it on the engine block.

So I found the oil pressure sensor behind the starter and here's a picture of it.

In the mean time I flushed the engine and adjusted the drivers seat. The guy who drove before me was a bit taller and my foot might have been slipping on the clutch... Either way, I don't seem to be having the problem any more.
